What Are Friends For?
Seeing a friend suffering because of a senseless accident is one of the most heartbreaking things in the world. When my bestfriend Jan got her driver’s license, she was so ecstatic. She couldn’t wait to drive. Just a week after she got her license though, she borrowed her mom’s car so we could go shopping at the mall after school. We wanted to check if we could find something great to wear to a friend’s birthday party. So there we were at the mall. And Jan was just about to turn into the parking lot when another car came out from nowhere and hit us on the driver’s side. I got a few bumps and bruises but Jan got a nasty head wound and broke her leg in two places. She couldn’t go to school or anywhere outside her house without any great incovenience to her and her family. So I, along with some of our friends, decided we should do something to help her out. Luckily, we found some affordable used Toyota handicap vans on the Internet and was able to get one for Jan. Jan and her family were so happy to get it. Jan’s mom was teary-eyed when she saw how loved Jan is by her friends. The only thing we could tell her was, “What are friends for?” Then Jan’s mother tearfully hugged us all.
